Photo of John Cockrill House (built in 1788), which was the first brick house built in Nashville, Tennessee. House was located at 916 Cedar Street (Charlotte Avenue). The home was razed shortly after this photo was taken. Cockrill was one of the original explorers, alongside James Robertson, who went down the Cumberland River to what would become Nashville.
