This particular location was remodeled and modernized in 1940. Founded in 1895 by Charles Davitt, Sr. in Nashville as Davitt The Tailor, and Charles Davitt Co. Earlier locations were 217 & 230 4th Ave. N., and 230 N. Cherry Street. The business was passed to his son, Charles Davitt, Jr. in 1932, eventually closing in 1978.
